We at Ottobock call ourselves the human empowerment company. From day one, over 100 years, we have been helping people with a handicap to basically live a normal life and that is part of our mission and with that, we are contributing to society, by providing socioeconomic benefit, because what we ultimately do is we make people productive again and we came to realize that we should measure that. We should tell the health care systems in the world that what we can offer contributes to society in a measurable way. In 2015, Hans Georg Näder signed up for the UN Global Compact and ever since, we have voluntarily published an annual sustainability report. In 2019, we started to put a bit more structure to the way we looked at the data and the stories that were centered around the topic of sustainability within Ottobock and we came to realize that data and topics were quite dispersed across the company, which made us realize that we have to focus and prioritize. We thought that there could be an opportunity for us to set a new frontier as to how you look at the "S," the societal impact of enterprises within society. And this is where we started with the help of BCG to measure the socioeconomic benefit of what we do with our patients and users. We wanted to be the ESG leader in our field and you have to be very clear about that commitment from the very top. So it's for me, clearly, a CEO topic and with that, you need to form a dedicated team that is doing this, not on the sideline, but very much focused on the clearly set deliverables as defined by the rating agencies. It's very important to focus, and it's also very important to have a very good project execution support. When people came to realize that what they're doing is good for the company, for the stakeholders, and for society, they developed a kind of own dynamism that ended up in a very smooth project execution, with a great spirit, and people were extremely proud at the end when we got the results from this private rating as the leader in our field.
